The
West Africa Water Initiative (WAWI) is a multi-partner alliance
that focuses on improving public health, providing increased water
supply and sanitation services, and promoting sustainable, integrated
water resources management in poor communities. WAWI partners combine
resources and skills to leverage funding from public and private
sources, gain cost efficiencies, increase advocacy power with government
policy makers, and develop more innovative and effective models
of action. Currently, WAWI's work is focused in Ghana, Mali and
Niger. World Chlorine Council members have agreed to donate PVC
pipe for lining new wells and chlorine for water disinfection. They
will provide additional support for ongoing projects.
